Review From The Happy Herald, November 2010 :

For excitement and beauty, there is probably no other French restaurant in Florida that offers the stunning ambiance of Boca Raton’s Paris Gourmet. The multi-storied glass covered atrium overflowing with tropical plants and cascading water creates an atmosphere that is both rarefied and relaxing. Audrey Vidal manages the front end while her husband, Frederic, oversees the cuisine in a chalet-like structure.

The cuisine draws upon the styles of Provence, but the Chef modulates French traditions in imaginative ways. Courses focus on the pristine flavors of ingredients and judicious seasoning rather than butter drenched creams and heavy sauces. Each serving delivers superlative textures and the presentation is always eye-catching.

The Chef’s formal culinary training began in Mazamet, then on to Paris followed by stints in luxury hotels on the French Rivera and various alpine ski resorts. Before settling in Palm Beach County, he operated his own restaurant in Red Bank, New Jersey.

While uncompromising on quality, the Vidal’s are more than flexible when it comes to pricing. The $19.95 Prix Fixe menu (available every day) offers a main course with the choice of either appetizer or dessert. Starters include the superlative Warm Goat Cheese Crouton mesculun salad bathed with a vibrant olive oil and balsamic dressing. A bountiful serving of scrumptious French Onion Soup is well worth the additional $2. So is the incomparable Escargot Traditionels featuring airy puff pastry surrounded by clusters of the ambrosial mollusks.

To say that the entrees are supremely flavorful is an understatement. Tilapia arrives crusted with a black olive tapenade and enhanced with sauce vierge crafted from a mix of sun dried tomatoes, capers, olives and shallots. The succulent Lamb Shank is marinated for hours and then slowly cooked to maximize the flavor and tenderness. Sides of scalloped potatoes, sautéed spinach and seasoned tomato are fabulous.

Don’t hesitate to order from the moderately priced wine list with offerings by the bottle and the glass.

How can you enjoy such inspired cuisine without wine?

If you opt for desserts instead of appetizers, order the awesome Warm Chocolate Cake or the heavenly Profiteroles. Once you taste them, you may want to order both

On Monday nights, a la carte dinner selections are discounted 40%. The $6.99 Lunch Special includes a dish of the day, choice of soup or salad and a soft drink (even fast food is more expensive than this gourmet offering).Kosher style food is available during lunch. Paris Gourmet will cater, do private parties as well as deliver.

Since the restaurant is not visible from the curb, look for the sign of the Courtyard Building. After 4 pm, parking is available in the underground garage. For additional information, call and/or visit the website at www.parisgourmetboca.com.
